Xylia and Sweet It Is to Battle Again

The Group 2 Lion Quality Healesville Cup will be run on Sunday, but there are a number of Victorian-trained greyhounds competing in feature races north of the border this weekend.

Tonight’s Group 3 Chairman’s Cup (720m) in Sydney looks certain to head south after seven greyhounds trained in Victoria made the final field of eight, among them champion duo Sweet It Is and Xylia Allen, who TAB has as equal favourites at $2.10.

Father-daughter combination Peter and Bethany Dapiran will be in opposite corners with Zipping Maggie and Zipping Rory, while veteran trainer Eddie Lieshout has drawn Box 1 with the consistent Bailey Rose.

The $25,000 to-the-winner final is Race 8 on the card at Wentworth Park, and is set to run at 9:57pm.

Meanwhile, My Bro Fabio is the only Victorian-trained greyhound to make the final of tomorrow night’s Group 3 Canberra Cup, but after running a track record 29.89sec over the 530m distance in his heat, the Brooke Ennis-trained greyhound is currently a red hot $1.50 favourite with TAB fixed odds to win the $25,000 first prize.

The Canberra Cup is scheduled for 8:09pm (local time) on Sunday.
