TONK ACES RIVALS IN GOLDEN EASTER EGG

Tonk won the 2014 Group 1 Golden Easter Egg in Sydney capping a sensational carnival of racing which culminated in two Group 1 and three Group 3 finals run on Saturday night. Tonk made the most of a dream rails run from Box 2 after early leader and race favourite Buckle Up Wes (Box 1) fanned wide at a crucial stage, opening up the race for the Victorian who claimed the $250,000 first prize. Earlier Sweet It Is, made up 15 lengths on Xylia Allen to win the Group 1 Association Cup in another Victorian-trained Trifecta. Sweet It Is was part of a winning treble on the card for her new trainer Darren McDonald.

Hooksy, trained in Victorian by Tanya Auld, won the Group 3 New Sensation in 29.36sec, eclipsing the Golden Easter Egg winning time by four lengths.
