CELEBRITY DUAL ONE OF SEVERAL TANTALISING MATCH UPS IN SUNDAY’S WARRAGUL CUP HEATS

Celebrity greyhounds Spud Regis (Andrea Dailly) and Top Innings (Jeff Britton) will renew acquaintances in a heat of the Warragul Cup on Sunday.

Spud Regis is named after AFL identity Danny Frawley while Top Innings is owned by cricket great Ricky Ponting.

The greyhounds live in the same street (Darlington Drive in Anakie) and will contest the fifth of six heats (Race 9) at 8:28pm.

Spud Regis, a dual Group 1 winner, is one of the most decorated greyhounds in Australia, while Top Innings is in the early stages of what looks like a promising career ahead.

The pair has raced against each other once before, at Sandown Park on 7 November with Spud Regis winning, while Top Innings was third, five lengths adrift.

However, that was just Top Innings eighth career start, and he has since gained valuable experience throughout the Group 1 Silver Chief series at The Meadows, in which he ran third in the final.
