RONAN WINS TWO DOG RACE

Ronan Izmir (below) won the battle with Delfina Bale at Ballarat last night after five scratchings and vacant box made the mixed grade event a two-act affair.

A dual country cups winner, Ronan Izmir won by almost five lengths in 25.12sec, some two and a half lengths shy of his 24.96sec track record.

Ronan Izmir is expected to tackle next month’s Traralgon Cup, where he stands to win a $50,000 bonus if successful.

The bonus, introduced by GRV’
s board in 2009, is offered to the first greyhound to win three Victorian country cups in a calendar year.

Only one greyhound, El Grand Senor in 2009, has claimed the bonus so far.
