DAVID’S GOLIATH WIN

In a stunning upset, David Bale, produced an astonishing run to win the 2012 SKY Racing Topgun at The Meadows on Saturday night.

The Graeme Bate-trained veteran was shown no love by the punters, going into the race a $31 rank outsider, but his performance was one for the ages as he lunged to beat kennelmate Desalle Bale in a classic finish.

The start of the race was frantic as Desalle Bale (Box 5 – $10.40) , Zara Zulu (Box 2 – $7.90) and Spud Regis (Box 4 – $9.30) all vied for the lead heading into the first turn while Glen Gallon (Box 1 – $3.20Fav) stalked the leaders and looked to be in a good position to mount a charge.
