Ballarat is set to host its first race meeting on the upgraded track this Wednesday night, and kicking off the card will be a race for local trainers.
The criteria surrounding Race 1 – the $2,000 to-the-winner Ballarat GRC Local Trainers Special Event (450m) – guarantees that the first TAB race on the new track will be won by a locally-trained greyhound.
Favourite to win the race will be the classy Hurunui Hitman, although trainer Steve McKenna (pictured below) has his reservations.
GRV regulates the sport of greyhound racing in the state of Victoria under the Racing Act 1958 (Act), which includes setting standards and ensuring they are met by participants.
