KARANJI AND IRMA THROUGH

The underrated Karanji caused a major upset when defeating odds-on favourite Irma Bale to win the Victorian State Distance Championship in 42.79 over 725 metres at The Meadows.

 
The son of Bombastic Shiraz and Sionara Baby sat behind early leaders Yowyeh and Irma Bale before
unleashing a powerful finishing burst to defeat Irma Bale by two and a quarter lengths, with Fyna Bale
finishing third.
