CAVIAR’S CANINE COMPARISON

Race caller Rob Testa on the similarities between Miata & Black Caviar…

Black Caviar fever has worked its way into the greyhound world, with comparisons being drawn between the equine phenomenon and a freakish canine from Perth named Miata.

While Black Caviar is unbeaten after 19 starts, Miata has amassed 20 wins from 23 outings, with her current streak at 11.

Miata could not have been more impressive in her Victorian debut last Saturday night, obliterating the best long distance greyhounds in the country in the $40,000 to-the-winner Group 2 Zoom Top.

Her dominance, which includes breaking nine records, has led to debate about her credentials for being the Black Caviar of the greyhound world.

Victorian fans have another opportunity to see Miata run in a heat of the Group 1 Australian Super Stayers this Saturday night, and then the opportunity to meet Geelong captain Joel Selwood and Grand Final hero Tom Hawkins at the final of the Group 1 Super Stayers and the Group 1 Australian Cup on Saturday 3 March.
