First emergency Wrongly Accused will line up in Saturday night’s National Sprint Final at Sandown Park, after Utter Madness was scratched from the race on Friday morning.

The South Australian representative Utter Madness, who took out his state’s final at Angle Park a fortnight ago, has been stood down for 10 days with a stopper injury, opening the door for Victoria’s star sprinter to gain a start in the 515-metre final.

Wrongly Accused finished second in Victoria’s Sprint Final to Storm Hustler at Sandown a fortnight ago.

Pending no further scratchings, Wrongly Accused will jump from box three in Saturday night’s final, worth $150,500 in total prizemoney.

Prominent owners Darren and Michael Puleio will have two representatives in the race, with Wrongly Accused and Off The Chart (box one).

Storm Hustler, trained by Des Douch, will also represent Victoria, jumping from box five.

On The Prowl is the second emergency, waiting to see if he might gain a late start.

Saturday night’s feature race meeting will also include the National Distance Final, which will pit Miss Envy up against Magpie Hector and Without A Trace.

Rising star Boom Boom Ranger is also considered among the leading contenders for the 715-metre final.
