The sport’s night of nights will recognise outstanding performances on and off the track, bringing together trainers, owners, breeders, volunteers, club representatives and industry stakeholders from across the state.

The awards acknowledge excellence across a range of categories, including the Trainers Strike Rate Awards, Provincial and Metropolitan Trainers Premierships, the prestigious Ned Bryant ‘Silver Fox’ Award and the Ken Carr Medal.

The evening will also see two new inductees honoured in the Greyhound Racing Victoria Hall of Fame, recognising individuals and greyhounds whose impact on the sport has left a lasting legacy.

The night’s major honours will culminate with the presentation of the Sportsbet Victorian Stayer of the Year, Sportsbet Victorian Sprinter of the Year and the coveted Sportsbet Victorian Greyhound of the Year awards.

GRV chair Tom Salom said the Victorian Greyhound Awards provide an important opportunity to celebrate the people and greyhounds who make the sport thrive.

“The Victorian Greyhound Awards recognise excellence across every part of our industry,” Salom said.

“From the state’s leading trainers and rising stars through to those who have dedicated decades of service to greyhound racing, the awards showcase the passion and commitment that exists throughout Victorian greyhound racing.

“They are also an opportunity to celebrate the remarkable greyhounds whose performances have provided some of the most memorable moments of the past racing season.”

Adding to the evening’s entertainment will be one of Australia’s most recognisable comedians, Dave Thornton.

A favourite of Australian television and radio audiences, Thornton has built a reputation as one of the country’s sharpest and most relatable performers through appearances on programs including The Project and Netflix comedy series Upper Middle Bogan.

Guests will also hear from AFL great Joel Selwood, who will take part in a special on-stage Q&A. Widely regarded as one of the modern era’s most respected leaders, Selwood captained Geelong to premiership success and remains one of the modern game’s most decorated players.

Television presenter Candice Wyatt will host proceedings, while racing presenter Molly Haines will help bring the stories behind the sport’s biggest achievements to life throughout the evening.
