Off The Chart delivers Golden Easter Egg glory for Victoria

Off The Chart has flown the flag for Victoria in emphatic fashion, capturing the Group 1 Wheeler Kennels Golden Easter Egg at Wentworth Park for trainer Peter Presutto.

The rising star claimed his maiden Group 1 title in just his 22nd career start, extending his winning streak to seven with a dominant all-the-way performance in the 520m feature.

Jumping cleanly, the son of Hooked On Scotch and Peggy Lu took control from the outset and never looked in danger, stopping the clock in a slick 29.32 seconds.

Consigliere chased gamely into second, while reserve runner Zig Zag Man filled third placing. Fellow Victorian and pre-race favourite Slick Splits finished seventh.

Bred by Darren and Mick Pulieo, Off The Chart’s breakthrough win has seen his prize money soar past $450,000, further cementing his rapid rise through the ranks.

“I can’t put it into words what I am feeling right now,” Presutto said post-race.

“I am so proud of what we have achieved. He has come such a long way, and it has taken us a while to get to this point.”

Remarkably, prior to the Golden Easter Egg series, Off The Chart was yet to record a metropolitan win. He turned that narrative on its head in stunning fashion, going unbeaten through the series – all from box five.

The victory marks his third Group race success in a career that continues to gather serious momentum.

“This is the greatest win we have had,” Presutto added.

A pint-sized brindle with a big motor, Off The Chart is now living up to his name on the biggest stage and his journey is only just getting started.
