Greyhounds, trots in new Saturday morning timeslot

For the first time ever Harness Racing Victoria and Greyhound Racing Victoria will host Saturday morning trots and dogs meetings from May 9.

Victorian harness and greyhound meetings will feature on Saturday mornings for an initial three-week period from May 9-23.

Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) CEO Dayle Brown and Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) CEO Alan Clayton issued a joint statement to announce the news this morning.

“Saturday morning racing presents an important strategic opportunity for our racing codes. The additional race meetings will provide extra earning potential for our hard-working participants and enable our products to reach new audiences during a period when people are hungry for sporting entertainment. We thank our Victorian Racing Industry (VRI) partners and Tabcorp for backing this initiative and welcome the initial three-week arrangement. Each of these meetings will be thoroughly reviewed from a wagering, broadcast and brand perspective. This will help guide our future strategy regarding Saturday morning racing. We are also pleased to be working so collaboratively on this project.”

Tabcorp Park Melton will host the three Saturday morning trots meetings, while the greyhound meetings will be held at Ballarat on May 9 and 16, and at Shepparton on May 23.
