Victorian Greyhound Racing Hall of Fame
Selection Criteria Guide
The people and greyhounds inducted into the Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) Hall of Fame will be recognized for their excellence, integrity, consistency, longevity and their overall contribution to the greyhound industry.
GREYHOUNDS
Racing Performance
Should have won at least a group 1 level race (or equivalent)
Should have won a minimum of two group level races (or equivalent)
Outstanding performances and impact on greyhound racing (eg. greyhounds that have won over 50 races or a number of races in succession)
Hurdle Greyhounds – consideration should be given to outstanding hurdlers.
Coursing Greyhounds – Must have won a Waterloo Cup
Stud Performance
Sire
Victorian Sire Premierships (minimum of 2)
Produced progeny that have become stud dogs in their own right
Sired a number of group winners (group winners internationally via FSI)
Ability to produce stayers and sprinters
Broodbitch
Should have produced a minimum of two individual group winners
Foundation Broodbitches – broodbitches whose daughters have continued to throw outstanding performers.
PARTICIPANT
Trainer
Must have trained a group 1 winner.
Focus is on quality not quantity.
Victorian trainer premierships will be considered favorably
Continued success over an extended period of time
Highly regarded by their peers.
Breeder
Should have bred at least 3 individual group winners
Continued success over an extended period of time
Ability to maintain a strong breeding line over a number of generations.
CLUB OFFICIAL
Committee
Contribution to the Victorian greyhound industry
Contribution to the growth and development of the Club
Volunteer
Minimum of 15 years voluntary support to the industry
ADMINISTRATION
Board Member
Contribution to the growth of the industry
Overall performance of the industry during their involvement
Additional consideration for a Chairman in comparison to a Board member
Management
Overall performance of the industry during their involvement
Minimum involvement of 15 years
Contribution to the growth of the industry
Development of new ideas and concepts
Club Administration
Contribution to the growth of the Club
Minimum of 10 years service to the club
Overall performance of the Club during their involvement
Development of Club level ideas and concepts
MEDIA
Minimum of 15 years service to the industry
Innovation in the print media – impact on the direction of print media
Weighting for national exposure in relation to local exposure
Innovation and development of Victorian race form
Racecallers
Minimum of 15 years service to the industry
Weighting for metropolitan in comparison to provincial callers
Contribution and work in the greyhound media – interviews – various roles
Standard of excellence – highly regarded by their peers
Contribution to the industry via special committees
PROFESSIONAL
Veterinary
Standard of excellence – highly regarded by their peers
Contribution to the industry via working parties and special groups
International Recognition
Involvement in Veterinary Innovation – FSI, Treatment Methods, Animal Science
Contribution to the Victorian greyhound industry via the provision of information to owners, breeders and trainers
Canine Chiropractor
Standard of excellence – highly regarded by their peers
Minimum number of 15 years involved
Reputation amongst trainers
Racing Equipment
Minimum of 15 years contribution to the industry.
Innovation – equipment design and improvements
Contribution to the improvement of racing equipment and design
OTHER
Bookmakers
Minimum of 15 years involvement in the industry
Highly regarded by peers and the industry
Industry identity – willing to take large wagers and promote on-course atmosphere
Identities
Minimum of 15 years involvement in the industry
People that immediately come to mind when greyhound racing at the very highest level is discussed
