Becoming An Owner

Owning a racing greyhound can be an exhilarating experience.

No matter the standard of race your greyhound is competing in or how long you’ve been involved in the sport, it is always an enormous thrill watching your very own greyhound race for real prize money.

And the excitement levels only multiply when your greyhound is first to cross the finish line – whether you are watching it from your lounge room, at the TAB or at the racetrack with your mates – there’s nothing like that winning feeling!

There are two basic pathways to choose from when buying a greyhound for the purpose of racing:

1. You can purchase a pup

OR
2. You can purchase a greyhound that is already racing (or one that is just a few weeks or months away from racing for the first time).

Both pathways contain a number of important steps which are detailed in the ‘Ownership Section’ of this website. The more meticulous you are in fulfilling these steps, the better your chance of success.

Greyhound racing is not only a lot of fun – it can also be financially rewarding with almost $40 Million in prize money distributed in Victoria each year.

How do I register as an owner?

You will first have to create an account (if you don’t already have one) by following the link below:

https://fasttrack.grv.org.au/CreateAccount/Create

You will then need to login and click ‘Apply to Participate’ at the top of the page, select ‘Owner’ and follow the prompts on the screen. You will also need to complete a police a check and can expect the completion of your application in approx. four weeks. There is no fee to register as an Owner.

If you want own a greyhound with friends, you can create a syndicate by

Login to your FastTrack account

• Click ‘My Account’
• Click ‘Syndicate’
• Click ‘Create New Syndicate’
• Follow the prompts on the screen

There is a $35 fee for registering a syndicate. Once the syndicate is registered, each syndicate member will receive an email notifying them that the syndicate has been registered and they will need to log in to their own FastTrack account to accept into the syndicate.
