Dramatical’s 22-Day Rise to the Sportsbet Australian Cup Final

By George Farrugia and Molly Haines.

Dramatical’s meteoric rise through the greyhound racing ranks has been nothing short of extraordinary.

The Jason Thompson-trained chaser has secured a berth in the Group 1 Sportsbet Australian Cup Final at The Meadows just 22 days after contesting his first Group race final, highlighting just how quickly the talented youngster has climbed to the sport’s elite level.

For context, some of the sport’s most celebrated greyhounds took significantly longer to reach the same stage.

Brett Lee made the Australian Cup final 63 days after his first Group final appearance.

Tim Zoo took 122 days.

Fanta Bale reached the race 170 days after her first Group final.

Tommy Shelby taking 343 days.

Dyna Double One 420 days.

Dramatical’s rise has been far more rapid.

Just weeks ago, the emerging star was competing in Grade 5 company, yet a string of impressive performances has seen him surge through the grades and into one of the sport’s most prestigious races.

His speed and confidence have caught the attention of the racing world, and drawing box one in the $400,000 Sportsbet Australian Cup Final only adds further intrigue to the fairytale rise.

Now, less than a month after his first taste of Group company, Dramatical has the opportunity to complete a remarkable story – turning a whirlwind rise into Group 1 glory.
