Traumatise has stamped himself as one of the most exciting young greyhounds in the country, delivering a commanding all-the-way victory in tonight’s Group 1 Silver Chief at The Meadows.
Just one week after breaking the long-standing 525-metre track record, the powerhouse youngster backed it up in emphatic fashion, stopping the clock at 29.57 seconds from box one.
Dewana Star and Ross The Boss rounded out the placings.
The performance further underlined what many already suspected: Traumatise is the real deal.
“He is an impressive dog,” handler Holly Thompson said post-race on Sky Racing.
“He is really starting to show consistency now, and I’m so glad he got the chance to show what he’s made of last week.”
By Bernardo out of Thriving, Traumatise continues to build an imposing résumé. The Silver Chief victory takes him to 10 wins from just 18 career starts, with elite success already defining his short but brilliant career.
His record now includes a Group Listed Pink Diamond Maiden Sprinter Final, a Group 1 Silver Chief, and ownership of the 525-metre track record at The Meadows – a rare trifecta for a rising star.
Summing up the night, Sky Presenter Michael Tye declared that greyhound racing may well have found its newest headline act.
“We’ve got a new poster boy for greyhound racing,” Tye said.
