Accredited stamped himself as one of the rising stars of the middle-distance ranks tonight at The Meadows, leading all the way to win the Group 1 Hume Cup in blistering fashion.
The Ned McDonald trained chaser pinged the lids and never looked back – breaking the sectional record in the process – to secure the biggest win of his career over the 600 metre journey.
For McDonald, one of the sport’s emerging young conditioners, the moment meant plenty.
“It hasn’t really sunk in but it feels pretty good,” he said.
“When he pinged, I thought that he was a good chance.”
“A Group win means everything, it’s good to get a little slice of success for myself. I will celebrate this with a couple of beers.”
Accredited has now won 10 of his 28 career starts, but tonight’s Group 1 breakthrough may just be the moment that launches the next chapter.
With the Dream Chasers Festival well and truly underway, Accredited has stamped himself as a middle-distance player to watch across the summer features.
