Two interstate stars had their first look at The Meadows on Wednesday night ahead of next week’s Sportsbet Dream Chasers Festival opener.
Eriza Sparkles, runner-up in this year’s Million Dollar Chase, clocked 29.91 seconds (5.14, 17.80) in an exhibition trial over the 525 metres.
The Group 1 Dapto Megastar winner, trained by Stephen Fitch, is preparing for the Group 1 Sportsbet Topgun.
The classy New South Wales sprinter will return home before travelling back to Melbourne for her shot at the invitational sprint crown.
Meanwhile, Group 1 Sportsbet Topgun Stayers contender Firethorn had her first look at The Meadows, trialling 42.58 seconds (4.98, 15.96, 29.64) over the 730 metre distance.
The Mark Moroney trained stayer is currently in the care of Jason Thompson as she fine-tunes her preparation for next Saturday night’s staying feature.
Both greyhounds will return to The Meadows next weekend as part of the blockbuster opening night of the Sportsbet Dream Chasers Festival.
Adding to the anticipation, Sooty Keeping and Jungle Johnny are scheduled to trial at The Meadows tomorrow during a trial session as they continue their preparations for the Dream Chasers Festival.
