Whiskey Whiskers Delivers Barnstorming Group 3 Great Chase Victory

Whiskey Whiskers produced an unforgettable performance of the year to claim the Group 3 Great Chase at The Meadows on Saturday night, overcoming early adversity to snatch victory in the shadows of the post.

Trained by Jeff Britton, Whiskey Whiskers found himself at the rear of the field heading into the first bend – but what followed was pure tenacity.

Hugging the rail with poise beyond his experience, he weaved his way through traffic before setting his sights on kennel mate and race leader, Weblec Snoop.

In a gripping finish, Whiskey Whiskers unleashed a devastating final burst to reel in Weblec Snoop, landing the win by less than half a length.

He stopped the clock in 29.85 seconds – around four lengths outside last week’s 29.61 qualifying run, where he led from start to finish.

Remarkably, this triumph comes just two months into his comeback from a shoulder injury that sidelined him for four months.

The son of Hooked On Scotch and Super Tora, bred by George Farrugia and owned by Shane Siegersma, has quickly reaffirmed his status as a star on the rise.
