Rivalries renewed in Healesville Cup decider

Australia’s premier straight-track greyhounds converge on the Yarra Ranges this Sunday for the $57,500 Sportsbet Healesville Cup.

Much of the spotlight is on defending champion Mile A Minute and fastest heat winner Serial Sticker. Their rivalry adds extra spice – they’ve clashed four times before, with Mile A Minute holding a 3-1 advantage.

The defending champ has made a habit of delivering on the big stage, having claimed last year’s Healesville Cup and recently went back-to-back in the National Straight Track Championship.

But it won’t be a two-dog race. Zipping Gryllis has pushed the pair on several occasions and remains a genuine threat, while the very sharp Catch Some Rays toppled Mile A Minute in last week’s heats despite heavy conditions.

It’s a drag race of the highest order, but Mile A Minute is no stranger to the assignment. Box 8 isn’t ideal, but with Tarawi Therese drawn inside and may shift left early with speed, he may find the clear running he needs.

The Cup is Race 8 on Sunday’s card at 1.19pm.
