Serial Sticker out to halt Mile A Minute’s streak

Mile A Minute heads into Sunday’s Victorian Straight Track Championship undefeated in his past five starts – four of those at Healesville.

But one greyhound who could bring that winning streak to an end is Serial Sticker.

Trained by Brendan Pursell, Serial Sticker burst onto the scene in April last year, winning his first seven races – including a Healesville Cup heat in a blistering 18.92 seconds over the 350m trip. The following week, the Cup was won by none other than Mile A Minute.

Serial Sticker will exit box 2 in race 8, just his third start back after seven weeks on the sidelines. It wasn’t injury that kept him away from the track, but rather a break while trainer Brendan Pursell enjoyed a holiday.

Serial Sticker (2) runs second to Talk Is Cheap (1) in the Vic Straight Championship heat 2.

“He trialled well before his third placing at Geelong, and I thought that Geelong run was great,” Pursell said.

“He had no luck at Healesville in his last start running second, but I’ve been happy with how he’s racing.”

So, can Serial Sticker bring Mile A Minute’s winning streak to an end?

“He can run quick time again – that’s no issue at all. He just needs to get out of the boxes well,” Pursell said, adding he wasn’t thrilled with the box draw.
