Ella’s Babe is one of many headline acts who are engaged in the Pink Diamond series throughout regional Victoria.
She is four starts back from a five-month seasonal spell and has shown no signs of slowing down, with a jaw dropping last to first win at Sandown over the 715 metres a month ago.
“The win was good, and the small field suited her,” trainer Brooke Ennis said.
“She took a lot of confidence from that run.”
Ella’s Babe uses every metre of the journey which could prove costly as she tackles the 680 metres at Geelong on Friday night when she jumps from box 6 in race 6.
“Geelong is practically her backyard. She trials well there but having a wide draw on a bend start isn’t ideal. It just adds another element to overcome.”
Ella’s Babe’s biggest competition is Ethanol Water (box 1) who can win a race from in front or behind.
“Ethanol Water is a class dog, and I have a lot of respect for her because she’s got the record to prove it.”
The Pink Diamond series culminates on Friday night at Geelong with 12 feature races for greyhounds of all abilities. Its big stakes, elite greyhounds – Victorian greyhound racing at its best. BOOK YOUR TICKETS HERE.
