Lanfranco picked up the Group 1 Zoom Top (730m) tonight at The Meadows for Brooke and Jamie Ennis.

Post race, trainer Brooke Ennis credited husband Jamie for his determination and confidence in Lanfranco throughout his career so far.

“He (Lanfranco) was amazing – massive credit to Jamie, he is so good at what he does,” Ennis said.

“Jamie had so much faith in this dog from the start.”

“Everyone wanted to buy him, but Jamie knew what he wanted to get out of him.”

Lanfranco had been an enigma, but a slow burn working his way through the grades and distances, plus making himself familiar with The Meadows and Sandown paid dividends and eventually resulted in his first Group 1.

Lanfranco (2) wins the Zoom Top (730m) in a time of 42.76 seconds. 

“Jamie placed Lanfranco really well and got his confidence up – ability has never been the issue.”

The Group 1 Zoom Top was owner Maathew Sheahan first Group 1 win.

“We are so glad that they stayed loyal with us,” Ennis said.

It was revealed that Lanfranco was reared mostly on his own, which Ennis admitted could be a reason for his racing pattern.

Lanfranco ran down Groovebird to win the Group 1 Zoom Top in start 33 (12-4-3). Unreal Speed finished third.
