Epitomize displayed high speed perfection in tonight’s Group 1 Silver Chief at The Meadows.

He jumped and crossed from box eight and lead into the first turn thanks to a 5.02 second first split.

Epitomize held off Deadly Avenger, sharing maiden Group 1 success with his young trainer Brad Greenough.

He stopped the clock in a time of 29.75 seconds in the 2024 Silver Chief.

“It is a dream to win a Group 1,” trainer Brad Greenough said.

“It’s a surreal feeling and I knew he could run time – we are very proud of him.”

Epitomize is a son of Black Magic Opal and Promote and is bred by Greg Sprod, who has had a great relationship with the Greenough’s over the years with greyhounds like Wow She’s Fast.

“We owe everything to them,” Brad Greenough said.

“They treat us very well and this is the least we could give them.”

Big Energy and Smooth Plane trialed in between races at The Meadows tonight in preparation for the Phoenix on December 21.

Smooth Plane was the stand-out of the two trials, clocking 29.45 seconds (5.08 seconds early).
