Team Geall shared the terrible news on Monday that Country Cup and their kennel King – Ferdinand Boy, had passed away following a snake bite.

Affectionately known as Lightning, which was a great way to describe his ability on the racetrack, was just five years old.

“Lightning was a larger-than-life personality, so happy and affectionate whenever he saw us,” owner Rose Geall said.

“We will always have him in our hearts.”

Ferdinand Boy was a winner of 52 race from 106 career starts where he claimed the 2022 Warrnmabool Cup, 2021 Healesville Cup, 2021 Ballarat Cup and 2021 Shepparton Cup.

He also has five litters on the ground.
