Currently for a greyhound to be accepted into GAP it must pass a GAP pre-entry assessment (GAPPEA) however, from 1 June 2024, the way greyhounds are accepted into GAP will change significantly.
These changes are primarily to simplify the process and give more certainty to participants on intake dates. Any participants with greyhounds already on the waiting list or, with a date allocated will be notified individually however, the below points are general information outlining the changes.
- Greyhounds already with a pre-entry assessment appointment (venue, date, and time) will retain their appointment and continue through the current GAPPEA process.
- Commencing 1 June 2024 all intakes will occur at Seymour only – intakes will not occur at any other venue.
- Greyhounds currently on the waiting list for other venues will be moved to Seymour – these greyhounds will retain their current position on the waiting list and participants will receive further correspondence- please ensure your email address is up to date.
- Greyhounds will no longer have to undergo and pass a GAPPEA; they will be automatically accepted at their appointment as long as they are medically sound.
- A GAP Transfer of ownership completed by the Owner will continue to be required.
The waiting list and the eligibility criteria will continue as they are now except:
- From 17 April 2024, your greyhound will need to have a current C5 vaccination certificate provided to GRV (C5 vaccine must have been given within 6 months) to be able to be added to the waiting list.
- Intake appointment dates will be released a few weeks ahead of time rather than a few months.
