Rooney is firing – heads to Ballarat again

Nathan Rooney put on a clinic last night at Ballarat. His best bet Thank You Tommy ($2.50 into $2.35) won easily and one of his two other fancies Spartan Legend ($4.40 into $3) also won. Not only that, his $80 quaddie landed and returned $454.

The bloke is flying.

With Warragul out of action, Ballarat features again.

See Nath’s set below, and hear his race-by-race previews on RSN. The opening event jumps at 6.47pm.

Best – Race 5, IVY’S JOY (2)

She was a good winner at Warrnambool two starts ago before she was unlucky as runner-up at Geelong last outing. She maps as the leader here and should get nice cover from Lady Arandt (3) and Tinker Dan (4), who stay up the track in the initial stages. From there she looks hard to beat.

Next best – Race 9, PETE’S ENTITY (7)

He resumes tonight and steps up to 450m for the first time. He was ultra impressive when winning on debut at Ballarat over 390m in a slick 22.03 seconds. His run home time that night (13.69) indicates that the step up in distance will suit and he should be able to pounce on the early lead and prove hard to beat.

Value – Race 6, CLARETOWN SADIE (5)

She ran well as runner-up at Bendigo three starts ago in 24.08 seconds and has since followed up with a solid Geelong win in 26.14 seconds. She maps as the likely leader and I think she represents good value in what appears to be an even race on paper.
