Cops: Ok guys, what is something you would love to see on Phoenix night?
Gerard: I’d love to see Wow She’s Fast win The Phoenix. That would be a once-in-a-lifetime moment and something I’d never forget. If anyone can get one last epic performance out of her it’s Kel and Jackie Greenough.
Quilts: I’m in your corner, Gerard. She’ll always be the ‘queen’ of the sport and to take her prizemoney to almost $3.4m would make her greyhound racing’s eternal PR machine!
Cops: Who will be the ‘Top 2’ leading at the first section in order?
Gerard: Pass The Buck and Postman Pat.
Quilts: Alpha Zulu and Postman Pat
Cops: What will the first split time be?
Gerard: 5.01sec (Pass The Buck).
Quilts: 4.99sec (Alpha Zulu)
Cops: Who are your ‘Top 4’ Phoenix selections and the winner’s time?
Gerard: Big Energy (1st) in 29.71sec over Hector Fawley (2nd), Postman Pat (3rd) and Pass The Buck (4th).
Quilts: I’m going with Postman Pat (1st) to win in 29.63sec, followed by Alpha Zulu (2nd), Big Energy (3rd) and Hector Fawley (4th)
Cops: Who’s the best value runner in The Phoenix?
Gerard: Postman Pat at $6. I think the ex-Kiwi might be slipping under the radar and Jason Thompson is sure to have him peaking at the right time.
Quilts: I agree with you, Gerard, Postman Pat is at nice odds.
Cops: What’s your suggested exotic bet?
Gerard: Box trifecta – Big Energy (7), Hector Fawley (2), Postman Pat (4).
Quilts: Exacta – Postman Pat (4) into Alpha Zulu (3)
Cops: Will Morton win the Silver Chief?
Gerard: An emphatic yes from me! It would be great to see the Sharp family claim a deserved Group 1 win and gain some consolation for missing The Phoenix in the process.
Quilts: Yes, yes, yes! Far too good for his age/sex group. It’s a travesty of justice that he’s not lining up in The Phoenix. Hopefully the Silver Chief is a nice consolation prize.
Cops: Will it be Aussie Rocks or Transponder in the match race?
Gerard: Aussie Rocks. He loves ‘the red’ (5 wins from 7 starts) and loves The Meadows (6 from 12 over 525m and 2 from 2 over 600m).
Quilts: I’m ‘signalling’ reigning Group 1 Topgun hero, Transponder – albeit I’m mindful of Aussie Rocks’ amazing stats at The Meadows.
