Recent Group 1 Adelaide Cup winner Hooked On Scotch headlines five heats of the Group 2 Geelong Gold Cup which will run on Friday night.

Geelong Oaks and Derby winners Mepunga Isla and Vivatar are on the hunt for the $10,000 bonus which they will receive if they claim the 2019 Geelong Cup.

Mepunga Isla has her work cut out for her drawing box four in the opening heat against Hooked On Scotch (box two).

Vivatar on the other hand finds himself up against National Straight Track Champion and Healesville track record holder Peter Galo in heat four.

It wouldn’t be a Victorian country cup series without the speedy Speed Star from the Andrea Dailly camp who is vying for his second crack at his local cup.
