Fish opens up Monster lead

Last weekend’s Traralgon Cup runner-up Monster Fish has extended his lead in the race for a share in the $20,000 bonus prize money on offer throughout the Gippsland Carnival.

Monster Fish, pictured above with trainer Kate Gorman, picked up 16 points by winning a heat of the Traralgon Cup, followed by a further seven points for running 2nd in the final, taking his score across the carnival up to 44 points.

The Cranbourne Cup is the last chance for greyhounds to earn points throughout the 2017/18 Gippsland Carnival, heats of which will be run this Saturday, 3 February. Nominations for the Cranbourne Cup heats close on Tuesday, 30 January at 11am.

The Gippsland Carnival incorporates the 2017 Sale Cup (650m) and Gippsland Carnival Launch (440m), which were both held on Boxing Day, as well as the 2018 Warragul Cup (January 13), Traralgon Cup (January 26) and Cranbourne Cup (February 10).

The highest points scorer throughout the entire Gippsland Carnival will receive $14,000, with $4,000 and $2,000 to go to the second and third highest points scorers respectively.
