A Contender for Run of the Year in Hobart Thousand Heats

Rob Britton’s Above All produced an outstanding run to win a heat of the Group 1 Hobart Thousand on Thursday night.

Coming out of the boxes last, the New Zealand-bred greyhound had to do it the hard way but his determination saw him through.

“He got checked straight out of the boxes and was back at the tail of the field,” Rob said.

“There was no room where he went and we thought he was on top of the rail when he past them!

“It was his first run on a horse-shoe track so he’ll get better next week.”

Above All was one of five Victorian-trained greyhounds to make it through to next Thursday’s final joining; Blurred Lines, Ride the Rails, Dyna Villa and Big Ticket.

The box draw for the final will be held on Saturday night.

The heat winners were:

Heat 1: Senor Slamma (Gary Johnson) – 26.23 secs
Heat 2: Dyna Villa (Jenny Hunt) – 25.94 secs
Heat 3: Blurred Lines (Kelly Bravo) – 26.23 secs
Heat 4: Ride the Rails (Kelly Bravo) – 26.05 secs
Heat 5: Hellyeah Bolt (Anthony Bullock) – 25.96 secs
Heat 6: Big Ticket (Steven Clarke) – 25.90 secs

Heat 7: Above All (Robert Britton) – 26.16 secs
Heat 8: Breaker’s Tip (Gary Fahey) – 26.37 secs
