Fire Hose ‘extinguished’ his rivals in yesterday’s $22,295 Mark Hughes Foundation Prospector final (425m) at Bendigo.

Prepared at Sale by Christopher Tilley, Fire Hose ($2.80) ‘poured the pressure’ on his rivals to claim a $15,000 first prize in a slick 23.75sec. The winning time was more than five lengths quicker than his 24.07sec heat win.

Fire Hose notched his sixth win from 11 starts, including four from five at Bendigo. He’ll next contest a Winter Classic heat (440m) at Sale tomorrow.

Last month, Fire Hose was a Pink Diamond Rookie Sprinter finalist (450m) at Ballarat.

Meanwhile, regally bred Aston Reina snared the $22,295 Beanie For Brain Cancer Bendigo Roses final (425m)

Trained at Longlea by Ian Garland, Aston Reina ($1.90F) was never in doubt securing a $15,000 winner’s purse in a slick 23.96sec.

ASTON REINA made amends for older half-sister ASTON FLAME, which was a Bendigo Roses finalist last year.

Aston Reina registered her fifth win from 17 starts, including three of her past four.

Also a recent Listed Pink Diamond Rookie Sprinter finalist, Aston Reina is a younger half-sister of retired superstar Aston Rupee whose litter sister, Aston Flame – also prepared by Garland – contested last year’s Bendigo Roses final.

And versatile local Greysynd Shock ($4.50) completed a gala night with victory in the $14,960 Bendigo Winter Cup final (660m). He posted 38.16sec, slicing one length off his heat win.

Greysynd Shock ($4.50) – prepared at Heathcote by Michael Chilcott – collected $10,000 and recorded his 12^th win from 61 starts, including six of his past nine.

Leading into the Winter Cup series, Greysynd Shock was runner-up in the Pink Diamond Champion Distance final (660m).
