Why you should attend The Shootout

There’s plenty of anticipation ahead of Wednesday’s announcement of the $72,500 Group 3 Shootout field.

A four-dog battle of speed over 515 metres, The Shootout is the main event at Sandown Park on Saturday – Night Two of the $4.1m Dream Chasers Festival.

Let’s all walk 10 paces and draw a huge breath!

This is going to be bigger than the Gunfight at the OK Corral.

Who will come out with ‘all guns blazing’?

But the $50,000 question is: who will be the ‘gunslingers’?

Well, the ‘saloon doors’ open on Wednesday when the four-dog field is announced!

However, the ‘guns for hire’ aren’t the whole attraction…

‘Sharpshooter’ Wow She’s Fast proved the sport’s ‘Annie Oakley’ in the 2022 Shootout (515m).

Prepared by ‘Team Greenough’ (Jackie & Kel), Wow She’s Fast ($1.70F) was too ‘fast on the draw’ for NSW ‘straight shooter’ She’s A Pearl ($2.70F) in 29.28sec.

McInerney ($7.80) – which had won the Million Dollar Chase a couple of months earlier – and Photo Man ($9.90) – which ironically ‘flew’ to a G1 Topgun win over McInerney a week prior to the Shootout – were caught in the ‘crossfire’!
