Independent mediation for Victorian greyhound racing

GRV and the Greyhound Owners Trainers and Breeders Association of Victoria Inc (GOTBA Vic), with the assistance of the Office of Racing, have agreed to enter an independent mediation process.

Mediation is pursued to attempt to resolve matters of ongoing importance and concern underlying recent industrial action by Victorian greyhound participants.  It will be conducted with the assistance of a mediator, Mr Tim Lyons.

GRV and GOTBA jointly acknowledge that it is in the interests of the sport and the people, that the process is entered into in good faith, on specific issues, and with an intention that there be agreed outcomes and actions at the end of the process.

As a sign of good faith, GOTBA Vic has agreed to a call off industrial action during independent mediation with GRV.

GRV Board Chair Peita Duncan said:  “GRV is hopeful that independently mediated discussions with GOTBA will enable a constructive resolution for the benefit of the whole industry”.

GOTBA Vic President, Lynton Hogan said: “GOTBA Vic is committed to reaching acceptable outcomes for a better sport for participants. We enter a short, sharp mediation process in good faith, with a focus on outcomes, in the hope that this can be achieved.”
