Bendigo’s ‘golden gang!

A ‘fossick’ through today’s Bendigo Gold Rush Maiden semi-final (425m) fields ‘unearths’ a gang with golden careers ahead – including two that cry Eureka!

The Kelvyn Greenough trained She’s Got Wheels ‘burned the rubber’ with a stunning heat win on debut.

She’s Got Wheels ($1.80F) had ‘hot wheels’, clocking a flying 23.70sec (Best) and scoring by 8.1L.

A daughter of G1 Adelaide Cup finalist Zara’s Entity, She’s Got Wheels (Box 4) is in Semi-final 1 (Race 1 – 2.28pm).

Rockabye Bear ($3.30F), who won a heat by 4.3L in 23.98sec, is also piquing interest.

Prepared by Matt Lanigan, Rockabye Bear was also having his first start. His great-granddam is Hall of Famer, Paua To Burn.

And he’s a litter brother of rising star On The Bit – owned by the ‘Correct Weight’ syndicate comprising prominent jockeys Jye McNeil, John Allen and Harry Coffey, along with Warrnambool-based horse trainer Daniel Bowman.

Rockabye Bear (Box 2) lines up in Semi-final 3 (Race 3 – 3.07pm).

Lanigan also won a heat by 4.6L with Zeeba’s Legacy ($3.50) in 23.96sec, who ‘broke the ice’ at her fourth start.

Zeeba’s Legacy (Box 3) is in Semi-final 4 (Race 9 – 4.59pm).

Meanwhile, Smokin’ Grille ($6.70) ‘cooked up a storm’ on debut with a 4.8L heat win. He posted a sizzling 23.81sec, only 2L slower than She’s Got Wheels.

Trained by Cameron Bahen, Smokin’ Grille (Box 2) is in Semi-final 2 (Race 2 – 2.50pm).

Other heat winners were David Condon’s Sierra Foxtrot, who scored by 8.6L in 23.87sec, and Alfred Debattista’s Body Hack by 4.2L in 23.99sec.

The $10,000-to-the-winner Bendigo Gold Rush Maiden final is on Sunday.

WATCH: She’s Got Wheels (6) makes an auspicious race debut, clocking 23.70sec (Best) in a Gold Rush Maiden heat at Bendigo on March 25.
