Raw emotion on show during ground-breaking TAB Melbourne Cup telecast

The world’s greatest greyhound race – the $630,000 Group 1 TAB Melbourne Cup – was broadcast live on free-to-air TV for the first time in 2020 thanks to ‘Thrill of the Chase’.

And what a night it was, with the most talented greyhounds in the land competing for a share in $1 million in prize money across the card, which included seven magnificent feature races on what was the conclusion of the inaugural ‘Metro Festival of Racing’.

Viewers not only lapped up the high-class greyhound racing, but also the raw emotion shown by trainers Luckie Karabitsakos and Mario Briganti, whose greyhounds took out the two Group 1s, the TAB Melbourne Cup (Hard Style Rico) and Bold Trease (Manila Knight) respectively.

WATCH: Re-live all the emotion of TAB Melbourne Cup night including encapsulating vision from behind the boxes, a feature story on Tommy Shelby, passionate interview with GRV Chair Peita Duncan and the appearance of 2017 Cup winner Aston Dee Bee on Molly’s Lounge.

The show also included a moving feature story on WA pin-up dog Tommy Shelby, who wound up running third in the Cup, while retired champion Aston Dee Bee made a welcome return to Sandown Park as we re-lived his memorable victory in the Melbourne Cup in 2017.

‘Thrill of the Chase’ returns to the airwaves on Sunday morning at 10am for a full wrap of the TAB Melbourne Cup, plus the launch of greyhound racing’s 2020/21 ‘Gippsland Festival of Racing’.
