SATURDAY SUPERHERO – TAUWITCHERE

Tauwitchere has morphed from a serious sprinting talent to a bona fide middle distance ‘find’.

At only her 12th start, she won this year’s Group 2 Launching Pad (515m) at Sandown Park in April and then was a finalist in the Group 1 Maturity Classic (525m) at The Meadows in July.

However, more recently, Tauwitchere has discovered what should eventually prove her niche.

Prepared by Steven White at Buln Buln East, Tauwitchere(box six) lines up in a Grade 5 final (600m) at The Meadows tonight.

And, based on her slashing 34.26sec best-of-day heat win 10 days ago, The Watchdog has tipped her on top in the $7480-to-the-winner event. (She also won at Sandown Park over 595m in 34.49sec six days prior to that heat win.)

Tauwitchere’s main threat should come from two other heat winners, Weeona Bulldozer (34.34sec) and Start A Riot (34.39sec). All three are blessed with early speed, so the first 100-150 metres appears crucial in the race.

Tauwitchere boasts a 50% winning strike rate – 11 wins (with five seconds and two thirds) from 22 starts. A victory tonight will see her surpass $200,000 in prize money.
