Tears to defend title

Tornado Tears’ box six hoodoo continued when he was a beaten odds-on favourite in one of two Gold Cup heats (710m) at Albion Park in Brisbane last week but the champion stayer will still defend his crown this Thursday night.

Tornado Tears (pictured) stormed home to finish third and after drawing box two he’s the $2 TAB favourite for the Group 1 final.

The Robert Britton-trained Tornado Tears is chasing the fifth Group 1 of his career, with fellow Victorian Dyna Chancer to join him in the final.

Star Victorian sprinter Sennachie will be chasing his second Brisbane feature trophy in the Group 3 Flying Amy Classic (520m), having won the Queensland Derby in May.
