The Bear is a star

Seona Thompson is setting the record straight ahead of Saturday nights Golden Easter Egg Heats at Wentworth Park. Poke The Bear is a star.

“Poke The Bear hasn’t missed a months racing in his career,” Thompson said.

“With his style of racing he will always need a little luck but, nine times out of ten he makes that luck himself.”

Poke The Bear’s last 500 metre win came in the Cranbourne Cup Heats in February this year. Since then, he is dabbled in a middle distance campaign which has seen him win two out of three attempts.

Saturday night at Wentworth Park, Poke The Bear will make the trip to Sydney for a heat of the Group 1 Golden Easter Egg where he has drawn box one in heat three.

“We were wrapped when we saw the draw for Wentworth Park on Saturday night,” Thompson said.

“The inside is where he is best suited. Box draws win races, especially at Wentworth Park.”

Saturday’s venture to New South Wales isn’t Poke The Bear’s first. He has crossed the boarder on six occasions and has won on three of those.

“He has raced in Sydney and he travels well.”

“We are looking forward to getting him through and hopefully bringing home the Egg for Victoria in two weeks time.”
