GRV Media Release – Traralgon track closed indefinitely

Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) in conjunction with the Traralgon Greyhound Racing Club (TGRC) officially advise that the Traralgon greyhound racing track will be closed indefinitely.

Detailed investigation following recent meeting cancellations has identified that the drainage issues have permanently compromised the track.

GRV will work with the TGRC to agree on an optimal approach for either rectifying or replacing the track, which may include a total redesign.

GRV is working with the industry and clubs to reschedule Traralgon race meetings with the preference being to conduct the meetings in the Gippsland region for the benefit of local trainers.

The Traralgon Cup, which was scheduled for Australia Day next year (January 26) has been postponed until a date to be confirmed.

GRV will continue to prioritise racing safety throughout the industry and will work with all stakeholders for the best possible outcomes.
