GLENVIEW CUP: Jai Alai’s Perfect Draw

The Glenview Cup (395m) will be the feature race at Traralgon this Saturday evening and it shapes as an outstanding short course sprint. Here’s my top 4 selections in this $10,000 Cup.

1ST: Jai Alai – Perfectly drawn, he scored from the same draw in his heat last week after firing straight to the lead. If he begins like that again he will lead and, if that happens, I am unsure how they will run him down.

2ND:  Aston Sloan – The fastest heat winner last week (22.45sec), he has drawn fairly. He will go forward where I think he will settle third on the outside but giving Jai Alai a start. He will need to be powerful late to beat Jai Alai but he is clearly the main danger.

3RD: Tiger Rance – His chances depend on the start. He is a very fast beginner who I think needs to lead to win. The last little bit of the race will be a small concern as well. He won his heat in terrific style leading all the way. A definite chance but I don’t think he can come from behind and win.

4TH: Maisy Mac – Racing in flying form, but this is a step up in class. A good beginner, I’m not sure he can get over and lead which I think she would need to do to win. She was game in her heat behind Tiger Rance but, drawing outside of him is an issue. She can still win but she will need a lot of luck.

The Glenview Cup aside, it looks a tough, even program but I think Gats Caviar in Race 2 and Amlin Mystique in Race 11 can both win as well. I hope this has helped steer you into a winner.
