Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) Stewards have opened an inquiry regarding the allegations of live baiting occurring at the Tooradin Trial Track into a further two registered persons, and suspended their registrations.
This follows the suspension by the GRV Board, in February this year, of fifteen registered persons after evidence was presented to GRV Stewards allegedly showing individuals involved in live baiting at the Tooradin Trial Track. Until now, Stewards were unable to identify the two further persons.
Registered persons Douglas Wheeler and Kyle Smale have been suspended under GAR 92(5) whilst the Stewards’ inquiry progresses.
“GRV has categorically stated that there is no place in this sport for this activity and we are determined to ensure those found to be responsible are held to account for their deplorable actions,” GRV Chairman Ray Gunston said.
GRV regulates the sport of greyhound racing in the state of Victoria under the Racing Act 1958 (Act), which includes setting standards and ensuring they are met by participants.
