Paw Licking defeated one of the best country cup fields ever assembled when taking out the 2014 Bendigo Cup on Easter Sunday.
The Kelvyn Greenough-trained sprinter led from start to finish after drawing Box 1, and he defeated a fast finishing Deadly Vane and local hope Matt’s Entity in 29.70sec.
2013 winner Ronan Izmir finished fourth while the favourite, Black Magic Opal was sandwiched early and was never in the hunt.
Paw Licking snared a $43,750 first prize, taking his stake earnings up to $430,000.
