Australia’s biggest breeder and owner dominated last night’s Melbourne Cup heats at Sandown Park. Paul Wheeler had seven of the eight winners, all of which have progressed through to the final of Victorian greyhound racing’s richest race, the $200,000 to-the-winner Melbourne Cup. Three of Wheeler’s seven finalists are trained by Andrea Dailly – including the sport’s most exciting prospect Bekim Bale – while the other three are trained by Graeme Bate. All eight finalists are trained in Victoria, with the Gary Ennis trained Enry Walt the only non-Wheeler owned runner. No feature greyhound race in Australia’s history has been dominated so heavily by one man. FULL STORY & HEAT REPLAYS RELATED CONTENT ‘A DOG’S BREAKFAST’: FREE SANDOWN SPREAD |
