QUEENSLAND DERBY: Vics make it through

Victorian star My Silver Chisel tonight won his way into the Group 2 Queensland Derby final, justifying trainer David Burnett’s decision to head to Queensland instead of Saturday night’s Group 1 Perth Cup heats.

Burnett this week described My Silver Chisel as “the complete package”, and he now has nine wins from 22 starts to his name after clocking the time of 29.97sec.

A son of Magic Sprite and Silver Avenue, My Silver Chisel (pictured) defeated Zabdon Ferrari after exiting box six, with Dundee Osprey, the only other Victorian-trained greyhound to contest the Derby heats, also qualifying after running third.

The other Derby heats were won by Fabulous Bill (30.17sec) and Thirty Talks (29.97sec).
