Dundee Osprey now a star

The Greyhound Racing Community is saddened by the passing of one of Gippsland’s favourite chasers – Dundee Osprey.

Owned, trained, bred and held at stud by Geoff Scott-Smith, the duo shared 61 starts for 21 wins and 20 minor placings together before Dundee Osprey retired in August 2017.

Dundee Osprey provided Geoff Scott-Smith with his first Group 1 win in the 2016 Harrison-Dawson at Sandown Park, at the incredible odds of $24.70.

From there he went onto win the 2016 Group 1 invitational Topgun at The Meadows and finished off their Group 1 treble in the richest Victorian Country Cup, the Group 1 Sale Cup over the 650-metre distance.

Didn’t he love a wet track, with two of his three Group 1’s won in the pouring rain.

Dundee Osprey’s strength and tenacity on the track were the not so secret, secrets to his success and the reason Geoff Scott-Smith walked around with the most infectious smile.

We, as Dundee Osprey fans are lucky enough to look forward to the progeny of this great greyhound hitting the track in the future.

The era of Dundee Osprey gave hope to small greyhound kennels who once thought Group 1 racers where out of reach.

Dundee Osprey, you will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
