New Local Rules for greyhound racing in Victoria

Greyhound Racing Victoria is introducing new Local Rules, which will come into effect from 1 October, 2017.

The new Local Rules include new re-homing obligations, notification of intention to euthanase, tightening export requirements and a requirement for trainers to report health and injury issues on track.

Participants will also have to comply with fit and proper requirements as part of the registration process, bringing Victoria into line with other states and racing codes.

There will also be a six-month transition period before the introduction of a minimum age in relation to breeding and nominating greyhounds to race.
