AFL star Bernie Vince on track

Greyhound Adoption Program ambassador Bernie Vince paid his first visit to Seymour this month.

The AFL star was more than impressed by the GAP headquarters, and agreed that the dogs look as though they’re in their element.

“It was a great trip down, and just the facilities are fantastic with really big kennels and interacting with a few of the dogs – I’ve loved it.”

The popular Melbourne midfielder was given a tour of the grounds and was also showed how a number of the processes work, including assessments.

Bernie will make a number of appearances as part of his partnership with GAP, and is expected to come along to the Royal Melbourne Show where GAP will have its own stand.

Members of GAP will travel all throughout Victoria for various agricultural and country shows from September through to December, with first stop the Melbourne show. GAP will be located in the Channel 7 Family Fun Pavilion at the Royal Melbourne Show, which will kick off on Saturday September 17 until Tuesday September 27.

Specific locations for country shows where GAP will be present can be found on the events calendar part of GAP’s website (http://gap.grv.org.au/events/).

For every appearance that GAP staff make, there will be adopted greyhounds to meet, as well as volunteers who can provide information on greyhounds and adoptions.

Visits will include the Geelong Show, Bendigo Show, Shepparton Show and more.

The next adoption day for GAP will be in Ballarat on August 28 and Vince urged people to come along to find their next pet.

“They’re great fun and very affectionate animals,” Vince said.

“They make wonderful pets and I hope more and more people can come on board to give them a home.”
