Angela Langton insists taking short cuts with greyhound pups is a recipe for disaster.

“You just can’t cut corners when it comes to dogs,” the breeder/trainer from Anakie said at last Saturday’s most recent GRV Stakeholder Engagement Workshop, which was held at Geelong on Saturday.

Angela was part of the panel at the latest workshop, the second of which that focussed on ‘Breeding & Breeding Controls’.
“You’ve got to learn and listen to what people say…and listen to the right people.”

“Rearing is probably 95 per cent of whether your dog is going to make it to the track or not.”

“Greyhounds need to be fed really well, they need to be kept flea-free and worm-free. They’re not a cheap animal to have. It costs a lot of money to rear a dog (properly). You’ve got to give them the best you can. They need plenty of exercise, sunshine, good feeding and handling…it’s all part of it,” she said.

GRV’s next Stakeholder Engagement Workshop relates to Rearing and Pre-Race Training, to be held at The Meadows on Sunday 19 June, with registrations to close on Friday. Click here to register
