PUNTING PREVIEW: Above All Cup a race in two

Tonight at Cranbourne Greyhound Racing Club we see the running of the $7,250 Above All (pictured – yellow rug) Cup (520m). Prize money is $5,000 to the winner and it has attracted a strong field after heats were conducted last Wednesday. Below are my thoughts on tonight’s final, which is scheduled to run at 5:52pm.

I think it’s a race in two between Pretty Bomb, who looks perfectly drawn in Box 1 and Utopia, who will need a little bit of luck early. Pretty Bomb was very slow out in her heat before weaving through and finishing strongly when runner up behind Turfman. Pretty Bomb musters very quickly so a good start should see her close to the lead at the first turn, which will give her every chance to win.

The main danger is Utopia, who is starting to put it all together. A beautifully bred greyhound who has won her past two starts very impressively, she has a big finish on her and if she is within striking range off the back straight she will be tough to hold out.

If there is to be an upset in the race it could be Quick Step. He can begin quickly and if he was able to burn to the lead then he would take a stack of running down. Smaller chances to Coolan Girl, who would need to lead to win and Turfman, who won his heat at big odds.
